MEET EMILY BARRIEAU

HELLO EVERYONE

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY

It sometimes takes an enormous change to take on a wildly different perspective in life. For me, it was 2016 when I left everything to move to a city in mainland China to be a high school teacher for nearly two years. With only two suitcases, I was off to the land of way-outside-my-comfort-zone. Little did I know, this drastic change in where I called home was the catalyst for a whole new way of being.

Without the know-how of speaking Mandarin yet, I soon experienced what it was like to have no real social life and an enormous amount of free time after work. I had stumbled into this vortex of space and time and had completely fallen in love. I was surrounded by only my favourite things and felt overcome by peace. It didn’t take long for me to begin to question all the things I had left behind, stuffed to the brim in my storage locker. How would those things serve me upon my return?

There the spark was created, I became motivated to design a life around simplicity, easy habits, and intention. To study the psychology that explains how we are all affected by our stuff. I was moved by the feelings of space and calm. Inspired to teach others how to become deliberate in designing their own spaces, instead of them just happening by default. To be truly intentional, to be Less but Better.

INSTEAD OF ASKING, "WHAT DO I HAVE TO GIVE UP?"
ASK YOURSELF, "WHAT DO I WANT TO GO BIG ON?"
